Q&A with Kevin
Spacey
Q. What was it about Bobby Darin's music that got
you interested in him as a performer?
A. It wasn't so much his music, which I
grew up listening to, but his life, which first interested me in him
as a performer. I didn't learn all the things about him, which made his
life ripe for drama until many years after his passing.
Q. What was the first Bobby Darin movie you ever
saw?
A. It was COME SEPTEMBER on a re-run on
television.
Q. Do you remember Bobby Darin's TV show?
A. I do not recall his TV show, although
when watching it later I wondered if I had watched it with my parents
and simply do not recall. When [his] show was on the air I was around
11.
Q. If Bobby Darin were alive, what would he have
accomplished?
A. Very difficult to conjure what Bobby Darin might
have done if he'd lived. It seems fairly certain that he was on the verge
of a major comeback. But it's a hypothetical question, I wouldn't want
to surmise beyond that.
Q. Would you consider a one-man show about
Bobby Darin?
A. No, I would not. I feel the film experience
was a very special one and I do not feel it necessary to continue performing
as Bobby Darin in the future.
Q. What's next for Kevin Spacey?
A. I begin performances at the Old
Vic in September in Eugene O'Neill's MOON FOR THE
MISBEGOTTEN.
Thank you, Kevin, for taking the time to
